Aberdeen, United Kingdom – Jack McLoughlin, Junior Geoscientist will present “The Paso Anomaly: Shallow Gas Contained within Lower Pleistocene Glaciogenic Deposits in the Central North Sea” at the EAGE Annual 2026.

The presentation explores the characterization of a shallow gas accumulation in the Central North Sea, previously considered a drilling hazard but now evaluated as a potential energy resource. Using seismic interpretation, amplitude analysis, and regional geological mapping, the study examines gas presence, migration pathways, and depositional environments within Lower Pleistocene glaciogenic deposits. The work provides new insights into how shallow gas systems can be better understood and assessed for development potential in offshore settings.
