Leading the Charge: ERCE at CO2 Storage Conference 2024 in Aberdeen
ERCE is gearing up for the CO2 Storage Conference 2024, happening on 1-2 October in Aberdeen. Our team, including Ellen Mitchell (Managing Consultant), Andy Moore (Principal in Carbon Capture & Storage), and Tee Jing Xuan (Energy Engineer), will be representing ERCE at this significant event.
Organised by SPE and GESGB, this conference comes at a critical time as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) becomes essential to decarbonising the UK economy and maximising economic opportunities. The UK Committee on Climate Change (CCC) has made it clear: CCS is not just an option—it’s a necessity.
With carbon capture expanding into sectors such as cement, iron and steel, and power, the need for comprehensive CO2 transport and storage infrastructure is urgent. The UK alone is expected to need 100 CO2 storage sites, making this a key focus for the industry.

Ellen Mitchell – Managing Consultant
Ellen has been with the ERCE group for over 8 years, and joined ERC Evolution when it was formed in 2021. Ellen leads many of ERCE’s projects across our Decarbonisation and Emissions services, and is particularly active in CCS.
Prior to joining the Evolution division, she was a member of the ERCE Energy geoscience team, where she integrated subsurface data including seismic, structural interpretation, well logs, and literature to construct and interrogate reservoir models from around the world. As a Project Manager within the ERCE Energy audit group, she guided multi-disciplinary teams to deliver outcomes which take into consideration subsurface, facilities, and economic elements.
Ellen holds an MEarthSci from the University of Oxford and is a CSA certified GHG emissions verifier and validator. She is an active participant in the wider geoscience community as a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and has been a visiting lecturer at Imperial College London.

Andrew rejoined ERCE as a Principal in Carbon Capture & Storage at the beginning of January 2024. Prior to this he was working for the UK North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) Carbon Transport and Storage Team. There, he was involved in designing and implementing the UK regulatory system for carbon storage, working on the technical and regulatory Stewardship of active UK carbon storage licences, conducting Early Risk Assessments workshops, and undertaking technical evaluations of license applications. He has been the lead author and collaborated on a number of technical, planning and regulatory Carbon Transport and Storage guidance documents for the UK industry.
He is a Reservoir Engineer by background with experience as a Subsurface Team Lead and has 15+ years’ experience in the oil and gas and CCS industries, working for operators, service companies, and regulators globally. He has in depth technical experience in both analytical and numerical reservoir engineering methods along with operational experience in field developments (reservoir management, drilling, and workovers) as well as reserves audits and expert work in an arbitration.

Tee Jing Xuan is an energy engineer working on projects that include the estimation, verification, forecasting and disclosure of GHG emissions for companies in different sectors such as oil and gas, energy from waste, pipelines rehabilitation, asset management, equity investment sectors and more.
Jing Xuan has supported clients in their Net Zero ambitions by providing technical and advisory support to clients in sectors such as carbon capture and storage (CCS) and the oil and gas industry. She is now certified by the Canadian Standards Association as an ISO 14064-3 Verifier and Validator. Jing Xuan has also worked on decarbonisation projects that involve determining the suitable decarbonisation options and calculating the emission reductions.
She is involved in cost estimations for projects such as Competent Person Reports (CPRs), due diligence and technical studies in regions such as the UK North Sea where she is involved in estimating CAPEX, OPEX and ABANDEX profiles.
